article and fine historical fiction

I just started Jane Harris' debut novel, THE OBSERVATIONS, and have fallen in love. This book truly lives up to its accolades.

Also, I have an article on long range writing goals up on Media Bistro:

I've enjoyed YOUR books so much that I went out and bought this today purely on your recommendation. Great minds think alike, I'd say. Right now, I'm struggling with my own piece of historical fiction and I'm hoping both you and Ms. Harris can inspire me I believe historical fiction is the best genre' of all, providing readers with a chance to not only enjoy a good story but learn a little about history in a painless way. I used to recommend hist. fiction to my English students often, and many have become lifetime learner/readers because of it. Thanks.

Hello Mary This book looks just my choice so as I have a fat book token to spend at Borders, I shall look it up!
Interested to discover this website. You probably wont recall me but I wrote a short story called "Remembering descants" for the Bitchlit Anthology. Had a lovely letter from Cathy Bolton saying it was on the short- shortlist. Superb competition idea and hope Commonword do more.
I am a Creative Writing tutor in Chester and recommended the competition etc it to folk in my groups.
Just realised there have been no comments or entries on your blog for a while so hope it isnt extinct! Happy New Year!
